This blog post was inspired by the latest release of the new Jordans.
I understand that everyone has that one thing that they want in their possession, but this world has gotten outta hand. Long over-night lines to grab the latest Jordans, iPhones, iPads. To see twilight movie premieres. To get a copy of the latest games like call of duty, 2k12, blah blah blah! Its ridiculous! Are you willing to sacrifice your rent money for some shoes? Are you willing to wait in line for 8hrs in a blizzard to get that new copy of COD? Are you willing to take a life for them new concords? If you are, then u have a big problem! The thing that kills me is when I see someone's world crashing down over a pair of shoes, or some silly game. What really kills me is when folks pursue to buy these silly expensive items with no kind of savings. What will a pair of shoes do for you when you need to eat, or when your car breaks down. Snap back to what's real folks, it's not that deep.Stop crying over a phone! You will live without that COD! You'll probably end up getting more work done! Be grateful for the things we (Including myself) take for granted everyday. None of these Material thing are worth fighting in line for. Eventually, it will all turn into ashes. Get out of those vicious cycles that are set up by these multi-billion dollar companies!!! Seek wisdom, Seek purpose, Seek righteousness, Seek God!

4 Wives
"Once upon a time there was a rich King who had four wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to the finest of delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best.
He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing her off to neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave him for another.
He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidant and was always kind, considerate and patient with him. Whenever the King faced a problem, he could confide in her, and she would help him get through the difficult times.
The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the first wife. Although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her!
One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time was short. He thought of his luxurious life and wondered, "I now have four wives with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone." Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I have loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!", replied the 4th wife, and she walked away without another word. Her answer cut like a sharp knife right into his heart.
The sad King then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!", replied the 3rd wife. "Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to remarry!" His heart sank and turned cold. He then asked the 2nd wife, "I have always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!", replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave." Her answer struck him like a bolt of lightning, and the King was devastated. Then a voice called out: "I'll go with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The King looked up, and there was his first wife. She was very skinny as she suffered from malnutrition and neglect. Greatly grieved, the King said, "I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!"
In truth, we all have the 4 wives in our lives. Our 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it will leave us when we die. Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, it will all go to others. Our 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for us, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave. And our 1st wife is our Soul. Often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world. However, our Soul is the only thing that will follow us wherever we go. Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it is the only part of us that will follow us to the throne of God and continue with us throughout Eternity."

Build Wisely
I was sitting in class the other day and my music history teacher gave us a word of meditation that I couldn't keep to myself. I quickly google one of the sentences that I remembered to share with all of my folks so check it out.
"An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family.
He would miss the paycheck, but he wanted to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.
When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you."
What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.
So it is with us. If we build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized that we would have done it differently.
Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely.
It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity.
The plaque on the wall says, "Life is a do-it-yourself project."
Your attitudes and the choices you make today will be your life tomorrow, build it wisely."

Blog Post to Close the Summer!
Life:
What's Good PPLs! It's the end of the "Summer Vacation" (really not a vacation) and it's time to bring this undergrad career to a close with this new school year coming up in a weeks. This semester is gonna be a tough one. I'm praying and claiming my bachelors degree in Music Theory&Composition(finally). This summer was a bit different then all the others. I was out of town every other week, traveled with my girlfriend, car broke down but God blessed me with a new one, but most of all, The Lord revealed a lot to me. I'm becoming an old geezer and time isn't slowing down for me. Once school is over, in the words of Naturalrox, it's real life! One main thing I learned is if you trust in God and submit your life to his will, he will take your life to the next level. Therefore the only thing I need to worry about is my spiritual walk with him. This summer, I also decided to challenge myself by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Which includes: Healthy diet, Exercise, Adequate water, and a good sleeping habit. I realized that if you take care of your body, your body will take care of you (ur mind). Ever since I made the change to a more healthy lifestyle, I've become more focus, more receptive, and I have more energy throughout a day. I believe as Christians we ought to take care and maintain the temple of God (our bodies). Guys, Pray for me as I walk this last mile this year. It's about to be a "long but short one" lol.
Love:
Also, I thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful girlfriend. I'm not the mushy type but I love her so much. She a blessing in my life and I appreciate her being in my life. This summer, a good portion of my family got to meet her and they love her(BTW I am referring to Tiffany aka "Naturalrox" on twtr). This was just a S/O to God for manifesting himself through human relationships!
Music:
I got a few request on the iPad Track machine stunts I've been pulling lately so musicians, this clip is for you!

Conviction folks
Let's experience Conviction folks...
Galatians 5 19-21
"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
If you fall under any of these categories, lets make make an effort to allow Christ to change us.

Accept the Storm
So it's been tough lately but I'm still alive folks. I had to stay prayed up cuz times are hard. But I must say, I've never felt so much peace in my life. I was looking throughmy timeline (Twitter) one day after a long day at work, I a tweet cause my attention. The tweet was from Parris Bowens, a great musician, and it went like this: "It's amazing how God will use the roughest season's of your life to grow you. We would never think to do that but then again we aren't God." I believe that quote hit home bcuz I feel God working in the midst of my struggles. Sometimes god has to take us through some things in order for us to be prepared for the great things that God has in store for us. Understand what ever God blesses us with will have a responsibility attached to it. If agod Blesses you financial, you now have a responsibility with your finances, if God blesses you with the gift of music, you have a responsibility along with it. Sometimes we are not ready for the many great things with our names on it. Accept the storm folks, consider the storm as Gods bootcamp lol

Ight, no excuses lol
So a lot has taken place since my last post. As most of you already, there was a wave of tornados that came though Alabama at the end of april. This natural disaster left many cities in Alabama without power for several days. Oakwood University released us (students) early do to the power outage so immediately after, I fled to my mother's house in ATL until power was restored in Huntsville. Now this is not an excuse for my inconsistency, but spare me please
I been hittin hard in the lab this month. I'm currently working on getting some big placements so lets pray folks! There's a lot of music to share but I have to insure the protection of my material. I have a soundcloud up so if u wanna check out some tunes, just follow me on SoundCloud => DrSus
If you haven't already, GET YOUR TICKETS FOR THE PJ MORTON EXPERIENCE (Huntsville)
The show is June 5th 2011 at crossroads! Don't miss it!!!

A lot of you all may know but it's the last day of Oakwood's alumni weekend! Saw a lot of faces and everyone was looking great (maybe not everyone), but my friends for sure were looking good! Im sure pictures will be up soon. I did alot of ATL traveling, work, and school work (to make a long story short). If you don't know already, I am officially in a committed relationship with my girlfriend Tiffany. (Yeah.... Awkward pause in writing). She also has her own blog = (http://goingbacktoblack.blogspot.com/). She came up for alumni weekend so I was uber excited! Check out this clip of us at build-a-bear!

I feel like I'm on the edge of a cliff. In front of me is unknown. For some odd reason, I don't feel threatened by whats ahead of me. In my mind I can imagine myself taking a leap into..... Let's stop standing on the edge. Take my hand let's take a leap.

Music, Life, and Love
MUSIC:
Yesterday I experienced a Musical High that kept a smile on my face the whole day. I made a mental note to listen to "Maxwell's" latest record after hearing some tunes in my friends car last week. I finally downloaded "Pretty Wings" yesterday morning and fell in love! I love everything about this joint! The lyrical content is solid, the vocal arrangement is super dope, and the track is just fire. The overall production of this record is just magnificent. I like how this track has a studio and a live feel to it. The bass player has a nice feel on the joint. I love the way the drummer plays on top of the programmed drum track. His pocket is so phat, and his dynamics guides the intensity of the track very well. This is not a typical song that you can hum after 15 seconds of listening to it. Take some time and let that record warm your soul. This song came out a minute ago so I'm well aware of how late I am. It really takes me time to discover music do to the lack of good records. Lately, PPL have been putting out catchy foolishness. I find myself always going back looking for inspiration. Commercial, AKA, POP, is getting outta control with these wack joints. Music is all about the money and not about the soul. Nowadays, producers are going into their libraries, taking some 808s, adding some Phat claps&Snares, and looping a vocal sample saying "we bottle popping". We're in the Dark Ages of music y'all. We need a resurrection. Mine was yesterday morning listening to "Pretty Wings"
LIFE:
This week was a very interesting week. I'm glad God brought me though another one. I went through emotional highs and def some emotional Lows. This week taught me some lessons and also reminded me of some things I learned in the past. Here are some of those things.
1. Differentiate your needs from your wants. Very important!
2. Find happiness in the things you take for granted
3. You can't force someone to have a yearning for you.
4. Matt 6:33
5. Faith won't prevent you from having problems, Faith will keep you super close to God "In The Midst" of you problems!
6. Always allow room for people to exceed your expectations. Otherwise, you will always be unhappy.
7. Pay your Tithes lol
8. Every motive must be genuine.
9. Integrity is what you do when nobody is looking.
10. Don't do things out spite. Trust me, you not bout dat!
LOVE:
I'll leave you with this.

Here I Am
Here I am, I'm still standing, here I am after all I've been through. I survived every toil and Snare, I'm alive , I'm alive. Here I am.
-Marvin Sapp-
By His grace and mercy I'm still here; able to write this blog. This is a testimony that I should share with everyone around me. We go through all kinds of foolery everyday, and honestly, we sometimes put ourselves in the foolish caca. Even in the midst of our caca, we're still standing. Sometimes we go through things so that we'll have the opportunity to tell somebody how we got out. What kind of testimony can I give you if I've never been through anything. I've been through some ruff times to the point were I let go of some manly tears (I ain't no punk). It was uncomfortable but I can tell you that God was there with me through it all. Isn't it crazy that God will use the ruff times to spend time with us. He allows us to hit rock bottom because the only direction we can look is up to him. Satan actually "**cacas" when he attacks cause he gives God the chance to be closer than ever! This is not our home folks, we're just passing through. Sharing is caring, so share the Good New and tell somebody about how God Brought you through!
Here I Am, Still Smiling!!!

Dig!
LOVE:
It's not worth it if it's not worth fighting for. Feelings can magically appear, but genuine relationships don't magically happen. you gotta build a strong foundation so when the winds come around, you'll be able to wit-stand it. U know the treasure is there, u just gotta be willing to dig deep to get to it. Take it from me folks, she's worth The work! It's complicated, just the way I like it!

What A Week!!!
LIFE:
So my body decided to give up on me this week. I had a flu y'all and it wasn't nice. I Felt like Pure Canned "S" for almost the whole week. I'm currently on a Progresso+ClubCrackers diet. I'm grateful cause it could have been worse. I decided on what im gonna wear to this banquet. All I have to say is SMH, but im low-key excited about this weekend. Pray 4 me guys cuz I'm still tryna kick this flu's Butt!
MUSIC: this week I've been getting a high dosage of Arabian Music. This kind of music I very....Different(in a good way). The musicians have a different way of thinking. I had to learn a couple arabian tunes for the banquet(which I'm also playing for) S/O to my date who's letting me do the gig. If you are going to the banquet, you are in for a musical treat. I'll be sharing the stage with some talented Musicians ( @eramey85, @KPFlymusic, and @LDBtre)<= follow them on Twtr!
LOVE:
"#Relationships The rite person'll bring out the best in you & clean out the rest in you. The wrong person'll turn you into the wrong person." - @PastorYPJ<= follow him.
That quote really hit home for me this morning. Take time
And think about the people in your life. This doesn't only apply to dating but also friends. If you surround yourself with negative minded PPL, guess what!!! You will end up thinking negatively! Now if you surround yourself with positive minded folk..... You get the point. Be blessed Folks!

Finally Here!
MUSIC:
Today I finally received my JBL Eon 515!!!!! I was supposed to receive it since last Wednesday but UPS was Failing at life! I'm loving the frequency responses on the baby(Especially the Low end). I'm gonna leave the Harke amp at home. Its a beautiful piece of equipment!
The next investment for live applications would be to invest the Akai SynthStation 49! It connects to my iPad! I want to also start running a sequencer off the iPad! That would be a perfect solution for click tracks!
For studio applications, I'm getting a UA610 Tube Pre. It's about that time to step up on My MicPre game!
LIFE:
Saturday, my boy Tommy, one of the members of Committed", took me out to get some Banquet Attire....it was a couple points away from a fail! We managed to get a shirt and tie, which it only about 40% of the outfit... I hope this works out by Friday. Pray for me folk!

15 things i take for granted
LIFE:
When I'm feeling Down, I always think about where I could have been if not for the grace of God. I never could understand the the phrase "Praise Him through the good and through the "bad". It makes sense when you have the mindset of "my situation is better than a lot". I.E- i'm gonna praise God even if my car were to break down cause God blessed me with legs that are fully functioning. You can never stop praising God! Here are 15 things I take for granted:
1. Blessed with Life
2. Waking up in the morning
3. Ability to walk
4. Sight
5. Hearing
6. Disease Free
7 A roof over my head
8. Sources of Income (Jobs)
9. Access to bread and water
10. Blessed with a vehicle
11. opportunity to an education
12. Blessed with family and friends
13. Blessed with Musical Gifts
14. Luxury of having a phone, computer, Internet, TV, etc (if u kno me)
15. Blessed with the blood of the lamb that covers me
Every morning that I wake up, I have something to smile about. God never stops blessing. We can't see it because of our sinful nature. Next time when you're feel down, think about the things we overlook and take for granted. Be Blessed!

Love and Physics
LOVE:
I was on a mission, and I had to make a decision but some how I fell into the submission of love.
I had the key in the ignition, but yet I had an altered transition cause mentally I was stuck in the mud.
I thought I was moving cause the tires were rotating but I wasn't going anywhere.
So I decided to go to the trunk of my life to find a spare.
And there laid something more than just a spare.
Doubtfully I had to stare,
I took the time to analyze
Then I had to finalize
that I realized
By and by the morning came and we watched the sunrise.
And so i came to see,
That in reality,
There was kenetic and potential energy,
And so i was movin....

Staying In the Pocket
What does it mean to stay in the pocket. I think this is one of those questions a lot of musicians can't answer. My take on the Pocket, since you asked, is the element of feeling *Good*. Let's take a drummer for an example. The drummers job is to establish the groove and to control the intensity of the overall feel rhythmically. This is my technical definition of "Pocket" in a drumming perspective. Here great example of a Super Solid Pocket. And it feels good too!
Ask yourself, what motivates you to play in a band. Is it about you? Is it about all your flashy chops? These thing can take away from the established Groove. Music needs to be felt as opposed to just being heard.
A musician becomes great when He/She know how to utilize the Pocket. BTW folks, Pocket Pays!

Take the time
LOVE:
It's the thought that counts folks. I went to Walmart sunday night to do some last minute materials shopping. While I was there, I saw some ridiculous Valentines Day gifts. I asked myself "why would I buy a caca gift from Walmart that every other girl in Huntsville probably has". NewsFlash Fellas, A bear with a box of diabetes gets old. Do something original and fresh! Last week I decided instead of just simply pulling out my wallet and buying a typical gift, I'm going to make a gift from scratch! After the long hours of brainstorming, shopping for materials, and the painful hot glue-gun action, with the help of my Good friend, I was able to make a personalized V-Day Gift Basket for that special Somebody ;). If you want to show that special person you love her and that you really care, then take some time out from your "Busy" schedule (Call of Duty) and be creative. Don't just let your wallet do all the work! USE SOME BRAIN POWER! => check out this link for the making of the Vday gift => http://gallery.me.com/samuel.b.alexandre/100021
LiFE:
And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you. . .But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another. (1 Thessalonians 3:12; 4:9)<= unpack at => http://www.blackaby.org/devarchive.asp
This morning I had a champions Breakfast, can't wait till I'm able to cook for you in the morning! *Lmao* eggs, Grits, Bacon and pancakes...
Today, I Got a 93% on my Music History Exam! I usually wouldn't get any higher than a "C" on MUHistory Exams. God is Great!!!!
A little over a month ago, I decided to attend my "First Ever" formal event(USM Banquet). I've never been to a homecoming dance or Prom etc. This is gonna be a first. I usually end up getting contracted to be apart of the musical entertainment. I didn't realize the challenge that followed my decision. GETTING THE RIGHT OUTFIT! *Image consultant desperately needed* Color=Sage. The banquet is FEB 27th 2011. HELP!
